There was a time when everything we read in newspapers was gospel. And everything that the United States of America did was good and was the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help me God. But somewhere there has been a cross connection. Somewhere the media has lost its most valuable asset, reliability and the USA has lost its very credibility.

The scepticism with which the news of Osama bin Laden’s death was greeted should be indication of this grim fact.
