ADVERTSHORTS - The arrival of the advertising short film

For many years advertising and films co-existed but in tandem. Each industry looked down on the other and looked up to each other too in some strange circumstances. While the film industry recognized that the advertising films were an unavoidable add on and allowed sponsorship of their programs, allowed concurrent screening of each others’ films, the ad film industry too borrowed heavily from the cinema idiom and from the celebrity stock.

In the recent past we saw the emergence of a new amalgamation of the two domains. In film advertising, as it is called has become quite popular and it is now not so surprising to see a Coke hoarding dominating the scene in a film or a particular car or SUV being featured prominently.

Of course the pioneers in this were the authorities of Kashmir Tourism. It is common knowledge that the many films that portrayed Kashmir and showed off its picturesque scenes were doing so courtesy of not so subtle promotion by the relevant authorities.

As the consumer demands of advertising and film makers a closer touch with reality, a new format is emerging in the story telling world of short films. It’s called the ADVERTSHORT.

Like an Advertorial that promoted products or services in mainline media, Advertshorts are vehicles that weave in custom made stories to feature drama and product in a very realistic mix.

This means stories will now be written with sponsors in mind. They will be written in such a way that products or services become unobtrusive, integral and hugely non-invasive parts of the cinematic tale.

The product promise or the service offering in this fashion is being seen as much more credible and much more relevant than conventional promotion or advertising.

The Advertshort also offers phenomenal ROI. Simply because, like its original form of the short film, it depends on the strong possibility of going viral online and offers little or no cost media delivery.

We are working on this new format and are open to friends, clients, associates to approach us to become part of this exciting, cutting edge initiative.
