Crowd or Company? What’s your poison?

Where you drink and with whom, often determines what you are. Are you one of those people who love to drink in the middle of a few hundred faces or do you look at drinking as an essential accompaniment to ‘friends and family’ time?

On the 2nd Floor of the Radisson Hyderabad Hitec Hotel there’s a new option that’s designed to bring the Zyng back into relationships.

Take the elevator up to the 2nd floor from the welcoming lobby that the Radisson has, and to your left you’ll find a small neon saying Zyng. You may get confused with the Cascade on the left…that’s a dining area that offers buffet and other meals.

But Zyng…on the right…is an oasis of friendship and fellowship. It’s a small, cozy space that has a fiesta’ish touch. If you time your arrival right you may see someone like Grenwille flashing his sideburns and guitaring you into a wild west mood.

The bar is a long jetty of sorts in this watering hole. And the backlight that streams in, makes the people and the drinks glow with anticipation.

As part of a team of foodies invited for an exclusive tasting session we were obviously given special treatment. But I could see that here was a team that was keen to satisfy…and a team clear that any experimentation was only for the pleasure of the customer.

Their Bar Menu had the standard classics as well as some cocktails with a twist. But what I liked was the snacks they had on call. While the list encompassed many favourites, the stroke of brilliance was the inclusion of some local attractions.

Mamsam Vepudu (in a canapé), Tawa Fried Fish, Chicken 65, Babycorn Bezule, Punkulu and Mirchi Pakoda (my personal favourite) were absolutely brilliant. Indeed there is nothing else that can make anyone feel at home than the taste of home.

Of the cocktails served I loved the Flaca Melon, the Pisco Sour and what they call the Last Cocktail. My palate loved the beer battered fish fry as much as it enjoyed dancing with the Mushroom & Spinach Croquettes.

But I come back to my first question. Do you prefer a crowd or company? If you’re looking for a place where you can have a wonderful time with a friend or two…or even by yourself, Zyng is a wonderful stopover destination. Discover it before it becomes the haunt of too many:-)
