A few years ago some dickheads masquerading in the guise of bureaucrats and politicians decided to rename the roads of Banjara Hills. Upset with the seemingly haphazard numbering roads out of sequence they decided to resort to logic and tried to rename the Road Nos. So Road No. 3 was renumbered and renamed as Road No. 8. Fancy Signboards were put up and we realised that there was now a concept of avenues on the map. So my house was on 2nd Avenue on Road No. 8.

I had wondered whether this was a priority issue and felt that the whole exercise was one in futility and infact published a mini protest in the local papers. Needless to say that after all these years and after all that effort and signage I still live on Road No. 3. And the gang behind the Renaming Scam has moved on to Tihar, Charlapalli or Retirementville.

Now this is the latest. In a fresh bout of insanity the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has decided to name Road No. 3, Banjara Hills after noted lyricist and poet Kaifi Azmi, while Ramkote-Eden Gardens road has been named after Ustad Bismillah Khan and Sultan Bazar-Ramkote circle after Pandit Bhimsen Joshi.

Is there something wrong with the guys at GHMC ? Are they having problems with empty headedness ? Don’t they have anything better to do than take the innocence of the dead and then get some morons to walk all over it ?

Wasn’t one failed attempt to shake habits of a lifetime enough to drive sense into their systems ? Don’t they ever learn ?
